Magdalene Gweneviere, a student at River Blossom High, was intended to be a lead role well into pre-production. Her role was cut prior to filming.
Magdalene, a wealthy student, lived with her single mother, Genevieve. She was the school slut, and discovered she was pregnant at the end of the original "How To Deal With A New School" teleplay. The second episode, "50 Worst Dates" (then titled "When Sex Happens") dealt with her trying to procure an abortion.
Elimination of the Character and Changes to the ScriptEdit
Less than two weeks prior to filming, the actress who had been cast to play Magdalene was fired and the role written out of the script. The parts of Ken and Anabelle were extended, and Brad's storyline was expanded. Several actors involved in the Magdalene storyline were recast in other roles; Allison Watrous, who originally was cast to play Magdalene's mother, was recast as Brad's step-mother, Lydia Fischer, while James Kempe-Mehl, originally cast as Magdalene's doctor, became Mr. Gilbert, a River Blossom High English teacher. A party Magdalene threw during episode one became Richard Chan's party instead, and the second episode was renamed.
